21 Weeks

How far along: 21 weeks

How big is baby: Harper is the size of a pomegranate. 

As embarrassing as these two pictures are, they're all I took this week...




Weight gain: 139.4 lbs

Maternity clothes: The same.


Sleep: still napping and getting up in the middle of the night.

Best moment of the week: finishing our last tournament of the season! Until July at least. 

Food cravings: Reese's puffs cereal. I still can't go a day without it. Moderation is 🔑

Food aversions: On and off.

Symptoms: I thought my hair would be amazing from the hormones and prenatals and all buuuut it actually needs a complete renourish because it's so dry and so breakable right now. Other than that the only symptom I have is back pain.

Belly Button: more so an outtie but still hasn't popped out yet. 

Wedding Ring on or off: On, no swelling.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy

Movement: yes! She moves the most in the early morning and when I lay down at night. I can almost see her kicks from the outside.

Gender: Girl 💕💗🎀

What I’m looking forward to: We are painting Harper's nursery this weekend!
What I miss: Nothing.

20 Weeks

How far along: 20 weeks

How big is baby: Harper is the size of a banana




Weight gain: 139.4 lbs 😳😢

Maternity clothes: The same.


Sleep: I've actually been napping more often lately, I thought second trimester gave me back energy but I guess I need more.

Best moment of the week: Seeing our baby girl's halfway point ultrasound! She is perfectly healthy and weighed 11oz right on schedule. Fortunately, our doctor went over everything for us :) Two kidneys, strong heartbeat, no spaces in her brain, etc etc. 

Food cravings: Reese's puffs cereal. Every morning and night! Also fruit still.



Food aversions: On and off.

Symptoms: My symptoms are starting to settle down but I still have random ones here and there. Lots of backache/pain! No stretch marks thank God, crossing my fingers I keep my belly oiled up enough and stay hydrated enough to not get any.

Belly Button: Innie/outie, but stretching vertically still... I think it's gonna pop out really soon!

Wedding Ring on or off: On, no swelling.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! I don't get why most women "can't stand their husbands" during pregnancy, I've never loved mine more 😍❤️
Movement: yes! Lots of little kicks. She's also feels like she's rolling around and swirling in there I'm loving it.

Gender: Girl 💕💗🎀


What I’m looking forward to: Our first baby shower in May and designing her nursery.
What I miss: starting to really miss having little legs haha I didn't realize my butt and legs were going to expand with my belly 😂

Pregnancy Must Haves

First trimester of pregnancy was rough, but I was one of the lucky ones with less harsh symptoms than other pregnant women. However, there were soo many things I felt like I wouldn't have made it without this far.

1. Momma Sea-Bands from Amazon.com
These are acupressure sweatbands that I wore every.single.day. for the first 9 weeks at least. They have these little knobs that push into your wrists on a nerve that relieves nausea. Some people might think it's a mind over matter type of thing, but a couple of the days that I forgot to put them on (because I didn't sleep with them - they don't work if you wear them 24/7 I guess), I didn't notice that I wasn't wearing them and felt more sick than ever.
2. Chicken Broth
For those days I just couldn't stand the smell of anything. I tried the MSG-free kind as well as the regular salty and delicious chicken broth bouillon powders mixed with hot water. The salt seemed to really help settle my stomach.
3. Lemon Ginger Tea
Sometimes my nausea got so bad that this tea was something I forced myself to drink to fight it off. Usually at night. It tasted to me kind of like a butterscotch candy. They say ginger really calms down nausea but I couldn't stand the taste of actual ginger or the ginger candies.
4. Heating Pad
For the first 9 weeks or so I had terrible cramping like menstrual camps on steroids and I'm used to having bad cramps like that but these were pretty scary. I panicked for about the first 2 weeks that I felt them and got a hold of just about every/any pregnant friend that could tell me if it was normal since the majority of the time it happened, it was late and I couldn't call the doctor. It turns out cramping is normal as long as you're not bleeding. I thought I was miscarrying but nope. :)
5. Watermelon
Again, this helped with feeling sick. I also love love love watermelon so I ate it all the time.
6. Sour Candy/Gum & Preggie Pops
For some reason I really craved sour candies and it was a bonus that they fought off aversions. Some of my favorites were sour straws, sour green apple candies, and blow pops.
7. Lemons & Lemonade Flavored Vitamin Water
Because pregnancy requires you to stay extremely hydrated, plain water gets boring. I just so happened to crave lemon and lemonade so this vitamin water was perfect for hydrating and satisfying my craving.
 8. My Prenatal Vitamins & Fish Oil
Many women complain about their prenatal vitamins giving them bad tastes or making them sick, etc., but this brand hasn't given me any issues whatsoever. The fish oil, I read, is supposed to help with early on brain development of baby.
9. Ginger Ale & Sparkling Waters
Sickness fighters. Hydration helpers.
10. Humidifier (so very important)
Pregnancy makes me feel really dried out so I invested in some wonderful humidifiers. Toward the end of first trimester, I got a crappy head cold and the biggest help was Vick's vaporub and the Vick's humidifier that spit out vapor to help me breathe.
11. Maxi Dresses/Skirts and loose fitting sweat pants
I started showing at about 13 weeks or so and since then I've really started to pop so the only thing that fits me are dresses and skirts. I'm definitely on a no-pants-until-Fall boycott.
12.  52 oz Bubba Mug for Water
This mug is a lifesaver when it comes to counting ounces of water. Doctors say to drink anywhere from 64-125 oz of water every day.
13. Tylenol
Tylenol is the only safe medicine to take for headaches and other aches/pains during pregnancy as compared to ibuprofen and aspirin. I didn't use it much during first trimester but soon after I went over the 12 week mark I started getting headaches so I would take 1 tylenol from time to time only if I really needed it.
14. Scent-free everything. 
Your nose is so strong during pregnancy that you smell everything intensely. Everything made me nauseous so I had to get rid of all of my favorite smells around the house that way they wouldn't ever remind me of feeling that way. Even unscented deodorant was a necessity.
15. Airbrush Tanning
Knowing you're gaining weight no matter what you do, can really take a toll on your self-esteem (yeah, yeah I know it's pregnancy, it's beautiful and weight gain is nothing to worry about blah, blah).  I've always liked airbrush/spray tanning because it makes me appear more toned and together, it makes my face brighter, and I feel 100% better.

Brownie Cookies with a little peanut butter touch

I love baking/cooking things from scratch and from time to time I get pretty innovative and add my own special touches so here are two of my favorite recipes (which I added Reese's chips to) put together to make those brownie cookies that so many people pin on Pinterest:

Brownies from Scratch (Hershey's Recipe):

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted and divided
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips or HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Directions

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease muffin pans.
2. Stir together cocoa and baking soda in large bowl; stir in 1/3 cup butter. Add boiling water; stir until mixture thickens. Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup butter; stir until smooth. Add flour, vanilla and salt; blend completely. Stir in chocolate chips. Put spoonful into muffin pan, fill only until bottom of pan is covered. You'll be putting the cookie dough on top of it so leave room for expansion!






Hershey's Chocolate Chip Cookies with Reese's Peanut Butter Chips - my secret ingredient :)
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (11.5-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Chips
1 cup Reese's Peanut Butter Chips

    Directions

    1. Heat oven to 350°F.
    2. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in chips.
    3. Put spoonful of dough on top of brownie dough. Bake for 20 minutes.

    How far along: 19 weeks

    How big is baby: Harper is the size of a mango




    Weight gain: I'll check next week at the doctor appointment.

    Maternity clothes Maxi dresses, skirts, sweat pants

    Sleep: Freight-train brain. Middle of the night bathroom breaks.

    Best moment of the week: Me and Adam both got to feel her first official kick! I can't wait to feel more. We are also all moved into our new home and looove it so much. 

    Food cravings: Noodles, Iced tea, comfort foods, watermelon.

    Food aversions: On and off.

    Symptoms: My symptoms are starting to settle down but I still have random ones here and there.

    Belly Button: Innie/outie, but stretching vertically still... I think it's gonna pop out sooner than later.

    Wedding Ring on or off: On, no swelling.

    Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! I've had some crazy emotional nights but Adam has been so great to me and supportive and continues to make me feel better when I want to cry out of nowhere ha.


    Movement: yes! Lots of really little kicks and movements all over my belly.

    Gender: Girl girl girl :)



    What I’m looking forward to: Our first baby shower in May and designing her nursery. I'm loving the idea of yellow and ivory with gold accents for a nursery!

    What I miss: nothing!

    18 Weeks

    How far along: 18 weeks

    How big is baby: Baby Harper Eve is the size of a sweet potato!

    Weight gain: 133lbs at the doctors office.

    Maternity clothes Maxi dresses, skirts, sweat pants. My belly is growing pretty big, my sisters think I'm going to be HUGE.

    Sleep: Vivid dreams, middle of the night bathroom breaks.

    Best moment of the week: Finding out our baby's gender and seeing her on the ultrasound moving around in there and kicking and dancing! Here's our ultrasound video :)



     


    Food cravings: Water water water! Weird things that I would never normally order from restaurants, like Applebee's Steak Quesadilla Tower which is in like an eggroll wrap. So good but so weird that I ordered that...


    Food aversions: On and off.

    Symptoms: Acne!! And backache so bad. And I'm growing out of everrrrrything. It is becoming a task to find an actual supportive bra now too which really sucks.

    Belly Button: Innie/outie, but stretching vertically!

    Wedding Ring on or off: On, no swelling yet.

    Happy or moody most of the time: Happy.


    Movement: yes! Even more constant little flutters. 

    Gender: We found out that our little miracle is a GIRL! Her name is Harper Eve, as I snuck it in above. 


     ^^ Haha!

    What I’m looking forward to: Planning our 2 baby showers (one for Adam's and my dad's side, one for my mom's side). And moving into our new home!!

    What I miss: nothing!

    17 Weeks

    How far along: 17 weeks

    How big is baby: Baby is the size of an onion 





    Weight gain: 133lbs at the doctors office.
    Maternity clothes: I bought lots of maxi dresses for this spring and summer!


    Sleep: My dreams have started t get really crazy and keeping my mind busy at night so I'm still exhausted! 

    Best moment of the week: We get to move into our new house next Tuesday April 8th!

    Food cravings: Virgin Micheladas from El Talatio, ice water, and Lemon flavored Vitamin Water! 






    Food aversions: Still pretty strong.

    Symptoms: Acne!! And backache so bad. 

    Belly Button: Innie, but stretching vertically!

    Wedding Ring on or off: On, no swelling yet.

    Happy or moody most of the time: Happy.
    Movement: yes! Lots of little flutters. 

    Gender: we find out on Wednesday!
    What I’m looking forward to: our gender reveal party and the 3D/4D ultrasound appointment.
    What I miss: nothing!
